Mike Hopkins is Managing Director of Fairwinds Landing and has overall responsibility for revitalizing and transforming an aging and under-utilized marine breakbulk terminal into a modern, multi-functional maritime logistics center supporting the shipbuilding, offshore wind, and maritime logistics industries.
Mr. Hopkins has over 40 years of maritime experience. Mike began his career as a U.S. Navy Supply Corps officer serving onboard USS Reuben James (FFG-57) as part of its commissioning crew. While on shore duty at Naval Sea Systems Command, Mike earned his Juris Doctor at George Washington University’s National Law Center, where he focused his studies in Government Contract Law. After leaving active duty, he joined McKenna, Connor, & Cuneo, a Washington, D.C. law firm specializing in Government Contracts, where he became a partner representing companies engaged in U.S. flag maritime transportation. Mike subsequently became General Counsel and Senior Vice President at Maersk Line, Limited (A.P. Moller-Maersk’s US flag operating subsidiary), where he had P&L responsibility for their U.S. flag operations. Mr. Hopkins joined Fairwinds Landing in 2016 to lead a variety of maritime-related business initiatives.
